Cog Sci Commencement

The staff and faculty of UC Berkeley's Cognitive Science Program are excited to welcome you to our Commencement Ceremony to be held Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 9-11AM, at Zellerbach Hall. A reception will be held in the Stephens Hall Courtyard directly after the ceremony.

NOTE: Beginning in spring 2017, the Cognitive Science program will no longer be a part of the UGIS Commencement Ceremony; we will hold an independent ceremony for Cognitive Science majors only.

You can register online for the Cognitive Science Commencement Ceremony if you graduated in fall 2016, or plan to graduate in spring, summer, or fall 2017. To register, please fill out our Exit Survey and Commencement Registration Form. The commencement registration form is now closed. 

NoteParticipation in this or any commencement ceremony does not guarantee that you will officially graduate and receive your Bachelor’s Degree. To receive your degree you must complete your requirements and ensure that you are on a degree list. Graduating Seniors: Register for the Ceremony

To reserve a seat for at the Cognitive Science Commencement Ceremony and to ensure your name appears in the program, students MUST complete the Exit Survey and Commencement Registration Form by April 14, 2017. Registration for commencement is now closed. 

**Friday, April 14, 2017 is the FINAL DEADLINE to register for the Cognitive Science Commencement ceremony and complete the exit survey.

Diplomas 

The Cognitive Science Program does not handle diplomas. The scroll you will receive at the commencement ceremony will commemorate all Commencement exercises of the Departments, Schools, and Colleges of the Berkeley Campus of the University of California.

Diplomas are generally available about four months after your graduation date from the Office of the Registrar (120 Sproul Hall, 643-7490), or you can have it mailed to you. For more information, please visit the Office of the Registrar.

If you need proof of completing your degree before the Registrar has processed your diploma, you may obtain a Certificate of Completion from them. More information regarding the Certificate of Completion is available on the Registrar's web site.

Day-of Information for Graduates

Graduate caps, gowns, and other regalia are available at the Cal Student Store.

Graduating seniors do NOT need a ticket for the ceremony. See below for information about guest tickets. 

Unless the commencement sells out, tickets will be available for purchase at Cal Performances box office on the day of the ceremony.

Graduates should arrive no later than 8:15am, they should assemble on lower Sproul Plaza, near the front doors to Zellerbach Hall. 

Upon arrival, all participating graduates MUST FILL OUT A NAME CARD so that their names can be read aloud, and correctly, at the podium. 

Day-of Information for Guests

All guests  must have a ticket to attend the ceremony. Tickets will be available for purchase online, by phone, or in person at the Zellerbach Box Office beginning Monday, April 3, 2017, at 12:00PM. On and after this date, you may purchase online here. Tickets are $12 each for all guests over 2 years of age. Guests 2 years of age and under will be provided a complimentary ticket. Unless the commencement ceremony sells out, tickets will be available for purchase at the Zellerbach box office on the day of the ceremony.

Ceremony begins at 9:00 A.M.

Parking can be difficult. We recommend arriving early.

Champagne reception begins after the ceremony, at approximately 11:00 a.m. at the Stephens Hall Courtyard, a short walk from Zellerbach Hall.

Photography

Parking

For up-to-date special commencement parking information, visit the  Special Events section of the Parking and Transportation website. Information specific to 2017 should be available in early April.

Information for Disabled Guests and Graduates

Disabled seating is available in Zellerbach Auditorium. Please arrive early and Cal Performances ushers will help disabled guests to their seats. 

All designated disabled spaces and non-reserved spaces will be available for $10 to drivers with certified DP placards or license plates on a first-come, first-served basis.

University-wide Spring and Fall Ceremonies 

Students who complete their degree in the fall may choose to attend the December Commencement in place of, or in addition to the Spring Cognitive Science Commencement. There is also a campus-wide commencement ceremony that students may participate in place or, or in addition to the Cog Sci ceremony. Individual student's names are not called during the spring campus-wide commencement ceremony.
