Students must declare their candidacy for graduation in the semester in which they plan to complete all requirements. They may do this during the preceding Tele-Bears period or during the last semester by contacting the College of Letters and Science in 206 Evans, and putting themselves "on the degree list" in order to officially graduate. This must be done before the end of the 3rd week of the last semester of attendance. If all courses are not completed as planned, the student will need to place him/herself on the degree list again - in the next semester in which they attempt to complete all classes.
The departmental commencement ceremony is held in May. Students completing requirements during the spring semester or the preceding fall semester are welcome to participate. Although you may finish and receive your B.A. degree in Fall, Summer, or Spring, we have commencement exercises only in the Spring. If you are a Fall or Summer graduate, you are invited to attend these ceremonies. We will send commencement information to all currently registered seniors in late March or early April. Non-registered students who wish to participate should contact the Student Academic Adviser by mid-March. Please review the UGIS Commencement web site for more information.
