Meet our Peer Advisors

Hey! I’m Melissa, I’m a fourth year Cognitive Science and Psychology major and first generation college student. I was admitted as a Spring admit in 2015.  I’m from SoCal and  took a few classes at Cypress College before coming to Berkeley.  After graduation I plan to take a year off before applying to clinical psychology graduate programs, so I can spend more time doing research.  I want to study treatments for depression and bipolar disorders. My favorite Cogsci classes have been Cognitive Neuroscience with Professor Ivry and Cultural Psychology with Professor Gorchoff. In my free time I enjoy playing video games, doing puzzles and binging shows on Netflix. Please feel free to stop by and ask me about managing a double major, being a research assistant in a psychology lab or anything else. :)

Hi! I’m Julie, a fourth year Cognitive Science major concentrating in psychology and linguistics. I’m originally from Queens, New York (Go NYC!) and say a lot of words with a New York accent. After graduation, I plan to take some time off and then go to graduate school for speech language pathology. I hope to work with children of all ages and help them develop their speech and language skills! My favorite classes so far have been Developmental Psychology (Psych 131) with Professor Hinshaw and Cognitive Neuroscience (Cogsci c127) with Professor Ivry. I am passionate about mental health and reducing the stigma around it. In my free time, I enjoy photography, baking, and watching Jeopardy! If you have any questions about cognitive science, linguistics, Cal, or anything else - please don’t hesitate to stop by and chat!
