Hooray! Two new Psychology hires have recently joined the faculty, and have permanent teaching commitments to teach Cognitive Science: Celeste Kidd and Steve Piantidosi.
Celeste Kidd is a developmental psychologist who studies curiosity, exploration, and learning throughout early development using a combination of behavioral and computational methods. Recent papers include "Quantifying Curiosity and Exploratory Play on Touchscreen Tablets" and "Cross-Cultural Comparison of Peer Influence on Discovery Rate during Play."
Steve Piantidosi uses formal computational methods and behavioral experiments to study how people learn language and create conceptual systems. You can read about some of his work on information and language, ambiguity, and the evolution of human-like cognition
