The CogSci faculty have decided not to enforce a 75 unit cap on declarations for Fall 18 Frosh as anticipated. We will continue to accept any student who meets the GPA and prerequisite requirements and can feasibly complete the major, regardless of unit total.
Please note that CogSci 131: Computational Models of Cognition will be available Summer 19 and Fall 19. It will NOT be offered in Spring 2020. If you are graduating Spring 2020 and you need Cog Sci 131, you MUST take the course in Summer 19 or Fall 19. Contact peer or staff advising with questions.

We have received approval to reduce the required number of upper division units for the Cognitive Science major from 30 to 26. Therefore, students who opt to fulfill our Philosophy requirement with a lower division option, can do so (in most cases) without needing a fourth elective. This change applies to all current and future declared Cognitive Science majors.

Deciding to apply to graduate school is a big decision. The admission timeline for most PhD programs in the United States begins one year before enrollment. Meaning, if you want to go straight to grad school from undergrad, you’ll have to apply during your senior year. While a seamless transition may be appealing, it’s important to consider the strength of your application with respect to your target programs and schools.

Have you noticed? Millennials appear to be everywhere. Not that this group -- the sizable cohort born between 1981 and 1997, now estimated at 75.4 million Americans -- was ever invisible. What’s changed is their status.
As a Cal student, I countdown the days until the next spring or winter break. After weeks of rigorous school work, sometimes career exploration gets pushed off to the side; however, apart from sleeping in, Netflix binge watching or catching up on school work, I have learned to take advantage of many opportunities during breaks. I have listed five great activities that can also help you with career exploration.
